The language of the mountains
This word is my favorite in Icelandic, because it makes me very metaphorical (that sometimes they form words in this language like this). It comes from berg which means “mountain”, and mál which means “word or speech”. We could literally say that it is "the language of the mountains" or "the speech of the mountains", but in reality it means echo.
