Did you know that Iceland is in fact an island?… I guess you probably already knew that, it’s just one of those things that the land of ice and fire is known for. However, being an island it also makes certain activities difficult. One such activity is the importation of products and the country's interconnectivity with the rest of the world.
That is something that has shocked me coming from Iceland, whenever I go to Mexico. Ordering items online here is ridiculously easy! Like seriously! I guess if you come from a bigger country as in mainland Europe, the US, Canada, or really any big place. This would not really be a surprise for you, but as I say, this is not the case for Iceland and basically the shipping of products from let's say the company of Bezos & friends, the shipping cost will be higher almost all the time than the price of the object itself.
When ordering things here in Mexico the only thing you have to do is to go to the site or app, click order now, and it will most likely be arriving to you the next day, or maximum three days. This can be hard on your wallet as clicking the “order now” button in Mexico is very easy.
Getting products that fast in Iceland is a big logistics problem that will most likely not be “fixed”, as you will most likely always need a week or two to get your products, which have to be shipped from afar. If that is good or bad, especially on your wallet I can not say. But for now I appreciate the speedy delivery in Mexico while here, and go back to my “should I, should I not” loop when I return to Iceland.
