Gansitos, gansitos, no me canso de los gansitos
The Gansitos are a delicious tiny “cake” (if you could call it a cake). Really it's a two/three bite sized cake that comes individually wrapped and you can buy them in your local store on the corner. In México there exists many of these types of candies or tiny cakes. There are Gansitos, Dálmata, Chocotorro and more. Think of them as similar to Twinkies, if you have that reference.
When I first tried a Gansito I was instantly reminded of the “rúlluterta” in Iceland, which is a roll of chocolate flavored sponge filled with cream, the taste is very similar, and as with the “rúlluterta”, the Gansito goes great with a cup of coffee.
As you might know, in México there is a lot, a lot of candy. Like really a lot. Endless varieties of chips, spicy candies, tiny flavourful things to snack on. Although of course full of sugar the Gansito, it's still nice to find something that goes good with the coffee and that reminds me a bit of the bread we have in a gathering.
